Work Permits
Canada's Work Permits are classified into two types: (1) Open Work Permits, and (2) Employer-Specific Work Permits, a type of temporary work permit, with validity between 1 to 3 years.
Work permit applicants must first obtain a Canadian job offer, followed by a Labor Market Opinion LMO application submitted by the hiring Canadian Company, to HRDC. After an approval on the LMO application, the applicant then can submit an application for work permit; these work permits are employer-specific, and qualified applicants may only be employed by the specific company and working at a specific location.
Positive LMOs are not required for all jobs, for instance, journalists of international affairs, news reporters, senior government agens, professional investigators, etc, there are no requirements for LMO.
